The Apple Music app was exclusive to iOS users until 2015. After that, Apple opened up to the entire Android ecosystem. However, just like iOS, some Android users also encounter some issues and errors while using Apple Music. Some of these bugs are generic, while some are specific to Android users only.
From research, these problems are often due to system crashes, network-related complications, and occasionally application-specific errors. Fortunately, they are easily fixed. If you have difficulty using Apple Music on your Android smartphone, see the solutions in this troubleshooting guide.
1. Update Apple Music
Whatever topic you’re experiencing with Apple Music on your Android smartphone, the first thing we recommend checking is that you’re running the latest version. App updates introduce new features, as well as fix bugs that prevent Apple Music from performing optimally.

2. Force Stop Apple Music
Forcing an app is a viable method for fixing a malfunctioning app. If Apple Music is up to date but the app is still breaking or not working at all, it should force you to stop the app. Follow the steps below to force Apple Music on your Android smartphone.
Step 1: Open the Android settings menu and select ‘Applications and Notifications’.
Step 2: Next, tap on ‘ View all apps.
Step 3: Select Apple Music.
Step 4: On the app’s information page, select Force Stop.
Step 5: Tap OK at the confirmation prompt and this will stop the application.

3. Reboot the phone
If forcing-stop Apple Music doesn’t yield positive results and the problem is still there, restart your phone. This will update your phone’s operating system and debug any system (damaged or damaged) or temporary files that are causing Apple Music to malfunction.
Simple tap and hold the power/lock button on your phone for 3-5 seconds and tap Restart.
Open Apple Music when your phone comes back and verify that the app works correctly.
4. Update Android OS
In addition to updating the app, you should also check your device’s compatibility with the Apple Music app. According to Apple, you need an Android device running Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system or later to use the Apple Music app. If your smartphone is based on Android v4.4 Kitkat OS or older, updating your device’s OS is the best bet to get Apple Music running smoothly.
Navigate to Settings > System > System Update to update your Android smartphone’s operating system.
5. Clear Apple Music cache
If the Apple Music app on your Android device is flashing intermittently, clearing the app cache could help fix it. Users whose Apple Music won’t play songs or upload their music library by clearing the app’s cache have restored the app to normal. You should try this and check if Apple Music now works on your device.
Open the Apple Music app information page (Settings > Apps & Notifications > All Apps > Apple Music) and select the ‘Storage & Caching’ option. Then click the Clear Cache button to delete the device application cache data.
6. Check network connectivity
Some glitches with the Apple Music app could sometimes be due to basic issues like poor network connectivity. For example, if downloaded tracks don’t play on your Apple Music, the problem is more likely to be network related.
To fix it, turn on cellular data or Wi-Fi and make sure your device has Internet access. Check out our guide to solving issues that cause Apple Music not to play downloaded music.
Also, if Apple Music (or other apps) on your Android smartphone only works with Wi-Fi and not cellular data, see the solutions in this guide to fix the issue. And if your device’s cellular data is the issue (eg limited/poor connectivity issues), read more about maximizing mobile data connection on Android.
7. Clear Apple Music Data
As witnessed by some users who have experienced issues with Apple Music not working or playing songs (downloaded or not) on their Android smartphone, deleting app data is an effective fix. However, you should keep in mind that you would have to configure the Apple Music app from scratch and you could lose some downloaded/offline music and other relevant data.
To delete Apple Music data, long press the app icon on the home page or app tray and tap the info icon (i).
This will redirect you to the Apple Music information page. Then select ‘Storage & Cache’ and tap the Clear Storage icon.
Launch the app after that and check that all functions work as they should.
Leave Music Play
If none of the above fix the Apple Music issue on your Android device, try removing the app, reboot your phone, and reinstall from Google Play Store. You could also sign your Apple ID from within the app and log in again.
