One thing is that WhatsApp asks you not to work on your iPhone. By contrast, it’s a totally different ballgame altogether when WhatsApp calls work, but incoming calls don’t give any notification, particularly when your iPhone is locked. Luckily, like other WhatsApp notification issues, this one is also easily fixed. That’s why, in the next section, we highlight 7 ways to make WhatsApp send call notifications whenever you have an incoming call.
WhatsApp Often Calls will not ring when your iPhone is locked due to a device or notification settings in the app. A few times, but possibly, the issue can also be related to software, where the version of WhatsApp installed on your device has a bug that is causing it to malfunction. Whichever the case, read on to find out how to fix it.
Note: The solutions listed in this guide are applicable to WhatsApp audio and video calls.
1. Disable silent mode
First, make sure your iPhone is not in silent mode. This could prevent regular phone/cell phone calls and WhatsApp calls from buzzing. Check that the Ring / Silent Switch on the upper left side of your iPhone is not showing an orange color. If it is, the device is in silent mode – notification alerts and ringtones will be muted.
Move the switch to the other side. That will put your device into Ring mode, and a ‘Silent Mode: Off’ pop-up will appear on your screen. If WhatsApp calls still don’t sound when iPhone is locked, continue with the next solution.
2. Update WhatsApp
As mentioned above, the problem could be due to an error in the WhatsApp app. Update your iPhone’s WhatsApp to the latest version and see if the theme persists. Update WhatsApp from your device’s App Store and tap the Update WhatsApp button below.
